I was going to give 4/5 stars, but decided to do 5 because I am rating the quality of product itself and nothing else. The reason I say this, is because I got the wrong color (ordered Black/White and got the Charcoal/Black/White). Nevertheless, Amazon costumer service was great and everything is solved.

Now one thing I wanted to cover here before I get to the actual review of bag…
I highly disagree with the other reviewer and he/she obviously did not do his research before buying this. I am a person that looks through reviews before making a purchase and I bought the bag regardless of that review. To paraphrase the product review I am referencing (because there might be a few more reviews by the time you read this) this person says the product is not as advertised and that he/she got ripped off. Also adds, that the Callaway logo is not on the bag and that it’s a paper-thin cheap replica. For starters, this bag is sold by Amazon, and I highly doubt they would have ripoffs like that. Also, the reason I say this reviewer did not do his research, if you look on every website that sells golf equipment, you will see that if you order the bag in black, the Callaway logo is not on the bag (the big logo on the side, not the little ones around the whole bag). This reviewer mentions he purchased the black bag. If you are a person that shows off the fact you bought Callaway golf equipment (which is stupid anyways), don’t order the bag on black because it won’t have “Callaway” on the side in big. It will, as I mentioned, have the little logos (the “V” looking ones) and it will have Callaway written where the water bottle pocket is. I don’t usually do this (refute another person’s review) but since that was a 2 star review, I felt like I had to say something because I really like the bag.

    Now, to the bag itself:

I think this bag is really amazing. If you like pockets and compartments, this bag is for you. It has 11 pockets, I believe, and within those, there are meshed compartments for further organizing. For a person that has a relatively large amount of crap in the bag, like me, this is great. There is a place to put your tees on the outside of the bag. I usually keep a couple of tees in my pocket, but sometimes I feel it is too much stuff to carry on me. I also keep my ball marker, ball mark repair tool, glove and so on. Sometimes I feel it throws me off. With this place for the tees, it’s one less thing in my pockets. There are 4 of these slots, which is really enough for a round, I think… unless you really break all of your tees.

The straps are comfortable. FYI, I haven’t played a round with this bag yet, but I put all my clubs in it and I don’t feel any discomfort or pressure anywhere on my shoulders. I think the pen holder and the scorecard holder are a great little addition (a couple of things I don’t have to carry in my pockets). There is also a ball marker, for all of you that need a putting aid and it also has a pocket that I am guessing was meant for balls. It is just really handy (in the back of the bag) and opens really easily and it’s highly accessible.

The reviewer I trashed on the second paragraph mentioned the bag is paper thin. The bag is really thin… but I don’t see any way I can break it. If you are somewhat careful when you insert the clubs in the bag, you should be able to have a bag that will last you for a while. Unless you are a golfer that gets really mad and literally throws the clubs in the bag every time you make a bad choice, either buy another bag or get better!

Also, the stand is nice and sturdy. Not sure what it’s made of, but I don’t think it’s aluminum. Whatever it is, it’s light and looks great. If you have a bag that weighs only 4 pounds, you have to make some changes to original bag design. I feel that Callaway achieved this without compromising either the integrity or the looks of the bag.

I was thinking of getting this one or the Nike Collegiate. Even though I think the Nike was great and looked great (and it was featured in the Golf Digest Hot List), it was priced a little higher. No regrets here, though. Great piece of equipment, highly recommend it for those of you that walk the course often.

Light weight and versatile, but neither the materials nor the workmanship seem durable. May need another bag after a couple of seasons. Time will tell. Also, don’t be fooled by the picture, the model Charcoal Black and White is not the one pictured, the one pictured is Charcoal/Black/Orange/White but after a month and 5 phonecalls to amazon, they have still not corrected it. In the last 3 phone calls, they said they would.

This review is from: Callaway 2011 Hyper Lite 4.0 Stand Bag (Sports)

First of all, the Callaway Hyperlite 4.0 is a great bag and a gold medal winner from Golf Digest for 2011. The bag is only 4 lbs and the backpack straps are extremely comfortable (eventhough I’ve had them twist on me several times when picking up the bag). Plenty of storage with the 11 pockets as well. Could put tons of balls (which is good since I lose a lot), tees, glove, and even a cold storage slot that is even big enough to just fit a 1000 ml water bottle. The stand is great and the rubber ends help stabalize so they won’t kick out (which is what happened on my old Taylor Made bag from sitting in the garage). There’s even a pen/pencil holder and a designated slot for your scorecard (if you choose to keep score or actually want to). There’s even a little handle at the bottom that you can grab while it’s on your back to help grap the left side. Also, the extra handle at the top of the bag really helps with grabbing it quick or even loading/unloading from the car. You can tell a lot of time went into the design and they didn’t skimp on quality. A true testament to Callaway quality. Now if I could just get the bag to help me reduce my handicap!

No for the negative part, which I won’t decrease the rating on the bag. Amazon had the wrong pictures/colors between the black/white and the charcoal/black/white. Even Callaway’s website had it correct. So I ordered the black/white and got the charcoal/black/white. The thing was that the box that was from Callaway itself said black/white. Not sure where the screw up originated from but it took a week for Amazon to get back to me (I ended up calling them back) and their response was that the black/white color was discontinued from Callaway. So basically, I was up a creek if I wanted the black/white. I didn’t like the charcoal/black/white so I ended up returning it. Instead, I called Carl’s Golfland (which Amazon uses) and they knew what color I wanted right away and didn’t know of Callaway discontinuing the black/white color. Needless to say, Carl’s sent me a new bag and I had it in 2 days with free shipping. So it ended up better than Amazon. Amazon’s customer service is usually great and they were very polite, but it seems they just didn’t do the research. That’s what happens when you buy from a giant warehouse and everything is automoated on their shipping. I guess I found what Amazon is good at and not so good at with this purchase. They did refund the money right away so I also found out how easy their return policy is. However, they missed the boat on getting me the right bag and Carl’s did a spectacular job instead.
